2026 Volunteen Application

GENERAL INFORMATION

Applications must be finished in their entirety prior to closing your screen. Partial applications will not be saved.

It will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete the application.


Age:
The age requirement for the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center’s Volunteen Program is for students who will be a rising high school sophomore, junior or senior for school year 2026-2027.


Volunteen Program Dates: The Volunteen Program will start on Monday, June 22, 2026 and end on Friday, July 24, 2026. The Volunteen Awards Ceremony will be on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 2:00pm.

Mandatory Orientation will be on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 9:30am. Volunteens will participate in the 5 week session and spend between 4 and 12 hours each week at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.


Application: : Accepted from April 1st through April 22nd. Online Application must be entirely completed and electronically signed by applicant and parent(s) or guardian(s) by April 22nd 11:59PM.

Once you have completed the online application, please print 2 copies of the reference form. Two letters of reference are required to be submitted by April 30th.

Provide reference forms to individuals who know you well enough to attest that you would be a good candidate for the Volunteen Program. Reference sources could include school counselors, teachers, employers, clergy, or similar individuals and should not include peers, relatives, or friends.

We review all applications and references to determine eligibility for the program. After May 8th, eligible applicants will receive instructions for setting up an interview so that we can discuss the program, learn more about your interests, and answer any questions you may have about the program.

Selection: Completed application and two letters of reference will be reviewed to determine eligibility of applicants.

Requirements:
After acceptance to the Volunteen program you will be required to:


1.
Attend MANDATORY Orientation on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 9:30am.
2. Purchase a uniform. (Tan/Khaki pants and Red Polo Shirt.)
3. Complete the Medical Screening Requirements.

Orientation: Orientation will consist of:

1. Descriptions and demonstration of services and duties of Volunteens.

2. Regulations & Requirements.
3. Uniforms and grooming.
4. Department Leader meet and Greet / Tout

Please note that due to the overwhelming response in previous years, we will only be able to select a certain number of individuals (based on available slots) to participate in the Volunteen Program.

In order to be considered, all applications must be received by April 22nd and all references must be received by April 30th.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: 
If the COVID-19 virus progresses and the hospital has to implement its emergency preparedness program, the Volunteen Program may be cancelled.
