Introduction

The UITP Bus Committee and Transport and Urban Life Committee are collecting use cases from cities that have implemented restrictive traffic speed limits (e.g., 30 km/h or 20 mph) as part of traffic-calming policies, which may have affected surface public transport (bus, tram, BRT) either positively or negatively.

The objective is to:
  • understand how these measures impact commercial speed and operations
  • identify methodologies used for forecasting and evaluation
  • collect lessons learned and mitigation practices
  • identify experts willing to contribute to a UITP discussion
