We are conducting a survey about astronomy teaching in undergraduate courses in Africa. We would like to learn about your experience and interests in this area. Your input and feedback will help us and others to design professional development, training, and teaching support in alignment with your needs and interests.

The survey is for ...
  • Anybody who is currently teaching astronomy topics at the university level in Africa, in any type of course (astronomy, physics, mathematics, etc.), or has in the past.
  • Any African student or researcher who wants or intends to teach astronomy at the university level, potentially in Africa, in the future.
  • Anybody who is interested in university-level astronomy teaching and/or professional development in Africa.
This survey is being conducted by Dr. Linda Strubbe and Dr. Tom Rice, supported by a Venture Grant from the American Institute of Physics (AIP) through the American Astronomical Society (AAS). It was developed in collaboration with Dr. Tshiamiso Makwela (IAU OAE / MPIA / UCT).

The survey is anonymous. If you choose to share your name and email address at the end, these will be separated from your responses before analysis. Only Dr. Strubbe will see your individual responses.

We intend to share the results of this survey through venues such as a presentation or discussion at an upcoming meeting of the African Astronomical Society, and reports in publications such as the Bulletin of the American Astronomical Society and/or African Physics Newsletter. Results will be reported only in aggregate, not as individual responses. We may include a few excerpts of quotes from responses, without identifying information. Completing this survey indicates your consent that we may include your response in our analysis.

The survey should take about 10-12 minutes to complete.
