The CA state legislature recently enacted a new law requiring state employers, including the University of California, to include union representatives in their on-boarding process for newly-hired employees.  This is great news for us and for other UC unions, because it will enable us to talk with more of our colleagues about the value of our union and our rights as union-represented employees.

We'll be bargaining with UC management over the structure, time, and manner of our access to new-employee on-boarding.  While the state law doesn't require it, we'd also like to encourage UC admin to improve the quality of orientations that lecturers and librarians receive.  In order to achieve the best possible outcome, we need your help to understand what new employee on-boarding currently involves and what possibilities you’d like our union to pursue in negotiations.

Thank you for participating in our union's work!
