Grow the City - An Urban Agriculture Initiative
Do you have an entrepreneurial spirit that is just waiting for the right opportunity to blossom?
Well, we want you to grow! Both literally and figuratively.
Join the ‘Grow The City’ movement, an urban-based agriculture initiative that is already empowering a whole new generation of visionary entrepreneurs.
A powerful concept brought to you by a collective of well-established role players, namely: WIBC, Jobs Fund and GWK. All of whom are fully committed to developing the most sustainable urban agricultural ecosystem in the Gauteng Province through entrepreneurship, innovation and the use of cutting-edge technology.
Our aim is to find, develop, fund and support aspiring young entrepreneurs with a keen interest in agriculture or agribusiness. With the aid of a well-thought-out comprehensive plan, we will assist them get into, and effectively utilize the agriculture value chain.
PLEASE NOTE! There is a limited intake, so if you think you have what it takes, the time is NOW!
Remember, the most successful entrepreneurs are the ones who took action.
Some base-line criteria that will be factored into our considerations:
• Must be a historically disadvantaged individual
• Must be a resident in the province and in relative proximity to farming operation (within 5km)
• Must have an interest in agriculture or agribusiness
• Must be willing to be fulltime on business operations
• Preference for :
- Youth aged between 18 – 35 years
- Women
- Persons with disabilities
If your application is successful;
- You will enter a 12-week pre-Incubation program that will enable you to test business concepts and present a tested agribusiness concept for funding or support.
- You will receive entrepreneur development training, business mentorship, and technical training.
- Only selected concepts from pre-incubation will be accepted for incubation and support.
