TX Survey of Stakeholders To Identify Future Intercity Bus Service Priorities
Stakeholder Survey
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Public Transportation Division (PTN), together with the KFH Group, is currently working on a statewide Intercity Bus Study. The overarching goal of this study is to provide TxDOT with details about the state’s intercity bus needs and services, needed to determine TxDOT’s priorities for the program. This survey asks stakeholder organizations to provide their insights about needs for intercity bus travel and connecting service from rural areas to the intercity bus network.
Intercity Bus Service or long distance bus service is regularly scheduled bus service for the general public that operates with limited stops over fixed routes connecting two or more urban areas not in close proximity, that has the capacity for transporting baggage carried by passengers, and that makes meaningful connections with other scheduled transportation services to more distant points, if such service is available. For example, Greyhound operates intercity bus services, as does the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) through its Interurban Coach regional intercity bus network.
The information collected in this survey will help TxDOT identify underserved corridors, unmet needs and potential bus service improvements.
