The Vision for the Cessnock LGA Traffic and Transport Strategy is as follows;
The traffic and transport system supports economic growth and local amenity by stimulating land development, influencing the use of sustainable transport whilst promoting safety and equity. Cessnock’s towns and villages are well connected locally and with the rest of the Hunter Region.

The plan shown on this page is the recommendation for a Future Strategic Road Network Hierarchy. The network of improved and new links will facilitate the flow of transport between the LGA, and to improve the efficiency of transport within Cessnock.

The Cessnock LGA Traffic and Transport Strategy is the blueprint for the city’s transport network over the next 25+ years with a focus on growth and transport infrastructure to support it. The Cessnock LGA Traffic and Transport Strategy guides transport policy and investment decisions, ensuring transport funding is allocated in the right place.

The concepts in the Strategy, as summarised on the plan on this page, represents the collation of ideas developed from stakeholder meetings, local and Regional Planning Studies combined with technical information from traffic modelling, investigations and expected residential development growth in the Region.

The Strategy recommends a number of new roads, road upgrades and intersections to be constructed over the next 25 years. These projects will require funding from a range of sources, including all levels of government, through to development contributions in new release areas.
