INTRODUCTION
The title of this research is, Bystander Employee Coping Strategies to Toxic Leader Behaviors: A Qualitative Descriptive Study.
I am Akilah Murphy Sharp, a doctoral student under the supervision of Dr. Sharon Parsons in the College of Doctoral Studies at Grand Canyon University. The purpose of this study is to determine how bystander employees who witnessed their supervisor directing toxic behavior toward coworkers describe their experiences and coping strategies in managing the impact of that/those experiences.

How do I know if I can be in this study?
You can participate in this study if you:
Work/worked in a banking/financial institution in the U.S.
Are 18 years of age or older.
Have witnessed (now or in the past) your supervisor at work acting in a toxic/destructive way towards your coworker, but you were not a target yourself. Witnessing includes to observe, overhear, or find out about destructive situations by other ways like email (Ng et al., 2020).
Have a LinkedIn account.
Are willing to be recorded via Zoom meeting for a private follow-up interview.
Are willing to answer questions about gender, highest grade finished, number of years in the workforce, current job tasks, sector that you work/worked, and current job status.
You cannot participate in this study if you:
Are a minor.
Are not willing to be recorded via Zoom meeting.
Are not willing to give an email address.
Have never witnessed your supervisor acting in a destructive way toward coworkers while working in a banking/financial institution in the U.S.
Did not witness destructive actions by your supervisor toward coworkers.
Do not have a LinkedIn account.
What am I being asked to do? If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to:

Survey (10-15 minutes) via SurveyMonkey; electronic.
Optional: Interview (40 minutes) via Zoom; audio recorded.
When?
Between July 01, 2022-October 31, 2022
Where?
Online via SurveyMonkey system
How?
A recruitment flyer will be posted to LinkedIn. The flyer will have a link to complete the survey online in the SurveyMonkey system. Individuals who want to take part in a follow-up interview on the study topic can leave an email at the end of the survey.
Who will have access to my information?
My chair, committee members, and all College of Doctoral Studies’ reviewers may view your information and your answers.
Participation is voluntary. Even if you have not finished the survey, you can leave the study at any time. If you want to stop answering the questions in the survey, you can stop at any time. You can click exit to leave the survey at any time. Any exited surveys will be reported as incomplete.
