The City Department of Transportation Services is considering the following changes to Route 4 (see map below)

Route 4 will be restructured into 3 separate routes.

New Route 4: Nuuanu-Punahou-McCully
  • New Service Areas: McCully Street; Kalakaua Avenue/Pau Street
  • Routing: Kuakini Street/Nuuanu Avenue (Kawananakoa School), Downtown, Alapai Transit Center, Punahou School, UH Manoa, McCully Street/Ala Wai Boulevard.
  • Will Not Service: University Avenue (makai of Dole); Citron Street; Kapiolani Boulevard; Kalakaua Avenue (between Ala Wai Boulevard & Kapiolani Boulevard); Victoria Street
    • University Avenue (between King and Dole Streets) serviced by Routes A, 6
    • University Avenue (makai of King Street) serviced by Route A
    • Kapiolani Boulevard serviced by Routes A, 3, 9
    • Kalakaua Avenue serviced by Routes 2, 8
    • No bus service on Citron Street & Victoria Street

New Route 121:
Nuuanu-Alapai Transit Center
  • Routing: Nuuanu Valley, Downtown, Alapai Transit Center

New Route 122: Punchbowl-Alapai Transit Center
  • New Service Areas: Queen’s Hospital (Lusitana Street); Pohukaina Street
  • Routing: Alapai Transit Center, Queen’s Hospital, Magellan Avenue, Downtown, Pohukaina Street/Waterfront Plaza/Circuit Court; South Street
