Welcome to the Tell Our Story Portal!

As we celebrate the one year anniversary of the launch of the Grade-Level Reading Network, we are inviting all charter members to Tell Our Story.

Over the past year, we've heard incredible stories about what has happened in the 134 participating communities in the GLR Network. We've also heard consistently about your desire to share that story with your peers across the Network, the media, and the Campaign's philanthropic partners. Our aspiration is that the Tell Our Story effort will help raise awareness, promote greater collaboration, and strengthen engagement among local sponsoring coalitions and throughout the GLR Network.

Throughout this month, you have the opportunity to Tell Our Story by preparing a brief submission that captures the progress and momentum your community has achieved over the past year. Be creative and feel free to use whatever format best conveys your story – video, print, photos, etc.

Here are a few questions suggested by your peers as you prepare your story:

  • What is working?
  • What have you accomplished?
  • Which barriers have proven most challenging?
  • What have been the biggest surprises? Disappointments?
  • Have there been any unexpected benefits? Costs?
  • What have you learned?
  • What's the biggest take away?

It may be helpful to preview the Tell Our Story questions by clicking here and downloading a Word document. Then you can compose your responses before entering your information since the portal will not save your information until you hit the submit button at the end. Having your answers composed prior to beginning the process will give you the greatest opportunity to clearly and concisely tell your story. If you need to go back a page, use the previous button at the bottom of the page instead of your browser's back command.

If you have questions, please contact Ron Fairchild at rfairchild@gradelevelreading.net. We are really looking forward to hearing from all of you and encourage you to file your story by August 15, 2013. Thank you for your active participation in the Network and for everything you are doing to improve reading proficiency for low-income children in your community.
