Applicants for this category of membership include nonphysicians who work under the supervision of a neurologist or physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) physician and assist with studies such as nerve conduction studies (NCSs), electroencephelograms (EEGs), intraoperative monitoring (IOM), evoked potentials, polysomnography, and ultrasound.

Technologist members must not perform or interpret needle electromyography (EMG) studies or interpret NCSs currently or in the future. Technologists performing NCSs must be under the direction of a neurologist or PMR physician.
