The Teachers Creating High-impact Opportunities for Innovation, Collaboration, and Equity (Teachers CHOICE) initiative is a grant-funded initiative through the U.S. Department of Education’s Investing in Innovation and Research grant program. Teachers CHOICE is available in 21 select schools in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) school district. Each year of the grant, all full-time certificated professionals working full-time at the 21 Teachers CHOICE schools must choose to opt-in to the Teachers CHOICE program. Educators who have opted IN agree to participate in the Teachers CHOICE model of professional learning support and to the Teachers CHOICE professional learning allowance program. Participation in the program is voluntary.

OPTING IN: I understand that by opting “IN” I agree to the following:
  • I will participate in professional learning sessions in compliance with grant requirements.
  • I must work at least a “good year” (99 days) in the Teachers CHOICE participating school to be eligible for the incentives.
  • For the 2024- 2025 school year, I will be eligible for an allowance of up to $2000 for completing the Teachers CHOICE professional learning requirements. The actual award amount of the performance incentive stipend is determined each year based on the annual grant budget guidelines and the number of educators who opt-in to the program each year.
  • I will be eligible to earn a professional learning participation stipend of $250 upon completion of all approved professional learning course requirements for each Teachers CHOICE Pathway 3 - school-based professional learning sessions outside of the contractual workday. The maximum amount of the professional learning allowance which I can expend through Teachers CHOICE in Pathways 2-4 will be determined each year based on the annual grant budget guidelines and the number of educators who opt-in to the program each year.
  • I will be eligible to use a professional learning participation allowance for participating in pre-approved Teachers CHOICE professional learning sessions outside of the contractual workday. The maximum amount of the professional learning allowance which I can expend through Teachers CHOICE in Pathways 2-4 will be determined each year based on the annual grant budget guidelines and the number of educators who opt-in to the program each year.
