Macon County Farmer Survey

The Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District commissioned the Foothills Regional Commission to create a Farmland Protection Plan for Macon County. The Foothills Regional Commission is the council of governments for the Isothermal Region, which includes Cleveland, McDowell, Polk, and Rutherford Counties.

This survey was designed by the Foothills Regional Commission in partnership with Macon County Soil and Water in order to determine the current status of farming in the county, obstacles and opportunities for agriculture, and policies and strategies to preserve Macon farmland for future generations.

This survey will inform service providers about the types of programs most in demand from the farming community, the challenges farmers face, and the opportunities that can be leveraged for the health of the agricultural economy. We encourage you to provide your valuable feedback and insight by participating in this 10-minute survey.

The survey will remain open until August 31, 2023. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Alan Toney at atoney@foothillsregion.org or 828-351-2331.
