Introduction

The goal of this survey is to assess companies’ progress in developing—and benefiting from—SOA. Summarizing The Open Group’s definition, we define SOA as an architectural style based on logical representations of repeatable business and technology activities. This survey should be completed by someone with high level responsibility for defining SOA strategy or services. All respondents will receive a summary of the results by June 2008.

The 20-question survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Please answer each question with respect to the organization or business unit for which you are most familiar.

All responses will be kept completely confidential. Only project team members will know the responses from any organization. Participation is voluntary and you may withdraw at any time. All analysis and reports will present only aggregated data. If you desire additional confidentiality, contact Dr. Jeanne Ross (617-253-9461) to obtain a code you can use to identify yourself on this survey. If you do not want a copy of the research results, you need not identify yourself in any way.
