Prior to Covid-19, tourism was the Taupō Region’s most valuable economic sector. It contributed more than $600 million each year to our local economy, was the number one contributor to regional GDP and provided more than 30% of all jobs across the district.

Tourism affects our environmental, social, cultural and economic wellbeing. We want to ensure that tourism in the Taupō Region is balanced, well managed and provides a positive benefit to current and future generations who choose to make the Taupō District their home.

Covid-19 has provided an opportunity to reflect on how and what we want our destination to look like into the future. As a local we would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on the future of tourism in the Taupō Region, and would appreciate you taking 10 minutes to complete our survey.

If you do not wish to complete the online survey, a hard copy version will be available from Destination Great Lake Taupō offices (1/32 Roberts Street, Taupō town) or from the Taupō District Council Customer Service Centre.

Ngā mihi,

Destination Great Lake Taupō
