Official Recruitment: Have you experienced sexual coercion but for some reason, didn’t find it traumatic? (18+, Any Gender)
1.
I'm a McGill University (Canada) researcher conducting a confidential study exploring how people make sense of experiences of sexual coercion that weren’t experienced as traumatic (according to their own self-understanding). All study material has been approved by the McGill Research Ethics Board (File Number #25-02-096).
While a lot of attention has (rightly) been given to stories of harm, there’s still very little research on how people understand and navigate experiences of sexual coercion when they don’t align with dominant trauma narratives.
If this resonates with you, you're at least 18 years of age, and you’re open to talking about how you’ve processed or interpreted your experience over time—emotionally, socially, or psychologically—We'd love to invite you to take part in a one-on-one interview (60–120 minutes). People of all gender and sexual identities, as well as any type of coercion configuration are more than welcome (i.e., men on women; women on men; men on men; women on women; any gender on any gender...)
All Interviews will be conducted online, with audio only. You can skip any questions, pause, or withdraw at any time. Interviews can be done either in French, or English.
If you're interested, feel free to DM me (at the Reddit account used to post this survey link)—I'm happy to share fuller details and answer any questions you may have.
If you’re still interested after that, we’ll continue formal communication by email, where you’ll receive the official study documentation (i.e., consent form, explaining all procedures and security protocols in detail). While the consent "form" will be sent to you to read, consent for this study will be obtained verbally at the start of the interview, so no need to sign anything, not even with a pseudonym!
If you are more comfortable initiating communication directly through email, please do so by creating a distinct, temporary address from your personal one without using your Reddit pseudonym (for anonymity purposes), and by reaching out at Zacharie.leblanc3@mail.mcgill.ca
In all cases, official screening and documentation/consent form sharing will happen through secured email communication. Feel free to refer anyone else who you think might be eligible for this study! They’re welcome to contact me through the same channels—either by Reddit DM or by creating a temporary email address and reaching out directly.
Every interaction with the researcher will remain strictly confidential.
(P.S. you can ignore the multiple choice, it serves no purpose here)
Thank you for your time,
Kindly,
Zacharie Leblanc
