Thank you for your interest in helping Samaritans with our work to make the internet a safer space for vulnerable individuals.

We are hoping to speak to a range of people from different groups, who have experienced self-harm or suicidal feelings in the past, or supported someone with these experiences to co-design a social media campaign about staying safe online.

We will do this by conducting a series of focus groups that bring together young people with personal experience together to co-design the campaign and feed in their experience and ideas. The focus group will take the form of an informal discussion involving 4 to 6 people.

This survey is to express your interest in taking part in a focus group
This survey includes a few brief questions about you and your experiences. We will use the answers provided to invite a small number of people from different groups to take part a focus group about this area of our work and inform our online safety campaign.

We realise that some of the questions are sensitive and may be difficult to answer. We hope you will feel able to take part, but your participation is voluntary, and you can stop at any time. Contact details for support services are also provided at the end of the survey. Because this is a sensitive topic, we discourage people who have very recent experience of suicidal thoughts or behaviours from taking part.

Please note we will not necessarily be able to interview everyone who expresses an interest in taking part as we need to ensure we speak to people with a range of experiences.
