In May 2024, the TTC introduced service changes to the Bay Street and Queens Quay East corridors to address several challenges.
Prior to this date, Queens Quay East had been served by two infrequent routes (19 Bay and 72B Pape). Heavy congestion near Union Station regularly disrupted reliability on the 19 Bay while Ontario Line construction impacted reliability on the 72B Pape.
At the same time, disproportionate demand across the 19 Bay and 72 Pape corridors made it difficult to efficiently address growing demand in the East Bayfront area including at George Brown’s Waterfront Campus and other new developments.
The changes implemented in May 2024 were designed to improve reliability—(particularly during ongoing construction on the Gardiner and Lake Shore Blvd), better align service capacity with current and future demand, and support the long‑term transit vision for the eastern waterfront.
As a result, service was shortened on the 19 Bay and 72B Pape. Both services were separated from Gardiner‑related congestion, and resources were reallocated to create a single, more frequent service on Queens Quay East (the 114 Queens Quay East), with capacity provided where it was needed most.
Additionally, in June 2025, bus priority lanes were implemented along Queens Quay East to improve travel times and service reliability, and identified the street as a future rapid transit corridor for the Waterfront East LRT.
In this survey we want to know your thoughts on the May 2024 changes to these routes. Your feedback will help us to continue making improvements to the transit system and in the Waterfront East area.
Your individual responses will be kept anonymous and confidential and will be combined with those of other employees for reporting.
This survey includes different sections for different routes. Depending on the number of routes you are interested in, it should take you between 5-15 minutes to complete this survey.
Please note: In anticipation of work starting at the intersection of College and Bay in March, TTC plans to adjust service to 506/306 Carlton streetcars and 19 Bay buses as early as Monday, March 2, 2026. You can find more information
