The Texas Success Center invites colleges to submit proposals for concurrent sessions at the upcoming Talent Strong Texas Pathways Institute #2, Mapping Pathways to Student Post-Completion Goals, to be held November 1-3, 2023, in Houston, Texas.
Our shared goal in implementing the statewide Talent Strong Texas Pathways strategy is scaling accessible and inclusive talent pathways, clearly directing students through intentionally designed programs. As such Texas community colleges are focusing on creating a seamless learning journey for students, beginning with short-term continuing education credentials and early workplace learning, leading toward high-value employment opportunities and further workforce and transfer education attainment.
This institute deepens our commitment to continue to redesign the student experience by scaling the essential practices of the Talent Strong Texas Pathways strategy. This fall’s institute theme reflects our focus on the structural changes needed to transform institutions to become more student centered and to scale and institutionalize the essential practices that undergird Pillar 1, “Mapping Pathways to Student End Goals,” with an additional focus on the student experience post-completion. Concurrent sessions will highlight successes in implementing Pillar 1 practices that enable students to efficiently and effectively progress through their learning journey to achieve their post-completion goals.
As a front-runner in the nation for reform in the community college sector, we seek proposals that highlight the institutional and regional innovations underway across the state, with the goal of learning from each other. Presenters should keep in mind that attendees from other colleges of various sizes and capacities will join sessions to better understand HOW they have been implemented at your institution and to determine HOW your strategies, policies, practices, or processes can be applied to their local context. We encourage presenters to explain how their work was accomplished and to identify next steps for their institution to further scale the Pillar 1 essential practices.
