Objectives: By the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
  1. Describe the challenges of sustaining compassionate care.
  2. Understand factors that tilt health professionals and healthcare settings either toward burnout and compassion fatigue or in the direction of engaged, compassionate, patient centred care.
  3. Describe approaches for nurturing and sustaining the practice of compassionate care.
