* 1. Dear Participant:

My name is Alisa Title, a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Alliant International University, San Francisco, California, and I am conducting a research project on. “The Attitudes of Young Adults from Divorced and Intact Families toward Cohabitation, Marriage, and Divorce.” I am recruiting participants that were 18 years or younger when their parents were divorced, young adults whose parents are still married and never divorced, as well as individuals that have never been married. The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the attitudes of young adults from divorced and intact families toward marriage, cohabitation, and divorce.

If you decide to participate in the study, your involvement will take no more than a half hour of your time. I will ask you to complete a demographic questionnaire, and an instrument measuring marital attitudes. There are no foreseeable risks or benefits from your participation, as this is simply an assessment study and not a treatment study. Your participation is completely voluntary and you will be free to withdraw at any time without penalty up until the final submission of your responses, at which point they will be aggregated with those of other respondents and no longer available for retrieval. You will not be asked for any identifying information, and the information collected in the study will be stored anonymously and in no way connected to your email address. Data will be collected in a password protected website (SurveyMonkey.com). Downloaded data will be put on an encrypted hard drive for analysis and will be kept in a confidential locked file cabinet for seven years.

If you have any additional questions about this study, please feel free to contact me (actresearchcspp@gmail.com) or the Institutional Review Board at Alliant International University San Francisco Campus, 1 Beach Street, Suite#100, San Francisco, CA 94133; irb-sf@alliant.edu; (415) 955-2151.
