CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST - PMI-WILL
FCM is recruiting Canadian municipalities to contribute to its project Partnerships for Municipal Innovation – Women in Local Leadership (PMI-WILL). This six-year project (2021-2027) is part of FCM’s portfolio of gender equality and women in local government initiatives. It is implemented in five countries: Benin, Cambodia, Ghana, Sri Lanka and Zambia.
PMI-WILL aims to achieve two core objectives:
· Increasing women’s capacity to get involved in and to lead in local governance
· Increasing local governments' capacity to deliver inclusive, gender-responsive services
PMI-WILL will use a capacity development approach to provide technical support by creating strong institutional partnerships, opportunities for training, work/study exchanges, coaching and mentoring, knowledge sharing and learning and the creation or strengthening of networks.
PMI-WILL is implemented in partnership with FCM’s member municipalities, provincial and territorial associations (PTAs), as well as in collaboration with Local Government Associations (LGAs) and key stakeholders in each of the five implementation countries. It is funded by the federal government through Global Affairs Canada.
Opportunities for Canadian Municipalities
Canadian municipalities, through their staff, elected officials and relevant community organizations, will support initiatives to increase the number of women running for local government and ways to strengthen the participation of elected women, female citizens, and local government officials (both women and men) to deliver and measure inclusive services.
Each selected Canadian municipality will be partnered with local governments in either Benin, Cambodia, Ghana, Sri Lanka, or Zambia to provide strategic and technical support to the PMI-WILL project team and municipal partners covering a variety of topics and themes.
