For the purpose of this survey:
“GIS” refers to Geographic Information System. GIS can be defined as a framework for gathering, managing and analyzing data that organizes layers of information into visualizations using maps and 3D scenes.
“BIM” refers to Building Information Modeling. According to ISO 19650:2019 BIM is defined as 'Use of a shared digital representation of a built asset to facilitate design, construction and operation processes to form a reliable basis for decisions'.
