The "U BEAUT" Study

Understanding how Behavioural Economics may Affect Uncertainty in Treatment decisions

Thank you for participating in “U BEAUT,” a survey-based study looking into factors influencing prostate cancer treatment decisions.

Our goal is to facilitate objective and informed decision-making by improving the delivery and quality of information to patients.

We anticipate that this survey will take no more than 7 minutes of your time. We will ask you to read our evidence-based consent document for prostate cancer treatment, and then answer some questions about which treatment you would prefer. Following this will be more information about our study, as well as references from the literature, for your interest.

This research is being conducted by Mr Daniel Roberts as a part of his University of Melbourne Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and is being supervised by Mr Pras Sivam, Urologist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne. Radiation Oncology support has been provided by Dr Michael Ng. Funding for this project has been provided by the Australian Prostate Centre. Ethics approval has been obtained by the Austin HREC, project #57697.
