Dear colleagues

The Department of Communities is committed to working with Aboriginal people to ensure that the policies, programs and services that impact their lives most, are developed and implemented in genuine partnership.

In working to recontract the delivery of out of home care services across Western Australia, we are committed to partnering and working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) across Western Australia to deliver better outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people. This is in line with the WA Government’s Closing the Gap commitments to reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal children in care.

Out of Home Care services provide alternative care arrangements for children and young people who are unable to live with their parents. This could involve living with extended family members, living with foster carers or care in residential homes.

If your ACCO is interested in delivering services to support children, young people and their families across the spectrum of child protection services, please answer the questions below to register your ACCO.

Once registered, someone from the Department of Communities will be in contact with you to discuss what this might look like for your organisation, what type of services/care you are interested in providing and what support you might need to be able to provide OOHC services.

The registration of interest will close on 21 January 2022.
