If you are looking for ways to reduce waste and teach your student about their impact on the environment, Twin Rivers Unified School District is making it easier to learn how to recycle food waste!

Beginning Wednesday, January 13th, Orchard Elementary (1040 Q Street, Rio Linda, CA 95673) will have a Food Scraps Drop-Off site every Wednesday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Parents and students can drop-off their raw food scraps to turn into compost. Students can also pick-up a FREE Do-It-Yourself MicroComposter Kit to try composting at home by registering below.

This kit includes a 2-liter bottle and a little bit of dirt, so your family can learn how food waste is recycled into compost to grow gardens. Students who participate will also win a fun prize for helping reduce food waste!

Micro Composter Kits can be picked up at Orchard Elementary School on Wednesdays from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm from January 13th until January 27th. The kits will be located at the Food Scrap Drop-off in the parking lot next to the curbside meal pickup.

Students and parents, please fill out the following registration together.
