Register to enter the GHSMTC COURTROOM JOURNALIST contest!
Only individual high school students may register. Contestants DO NOT have to attend a high school with a mock trial team competing this season. Any high school student is eligible to compete.
This competition is for "students to experience a courtroom setting from the perspective of a news reporter and learn about the American legal system from actual judges and attorneys. Through the voice of a newspaper reporter reporting on a case, students observe and report on the mock trials." Contestants will submit an article depicting the courtroom trial during a Round (mock trial match) to be scheduled by the State Coordinator (Joleen Respicio). ONLY registered students will be scheduled to compete.
Judges will select one winner in this contest by the end of the season (early Spring 2026) to represent Guam alongside the champion mock trial team at the National High School Mock Trial Championship (NHSMTC) in Des Moines, Idaho. from May 7 - 9, 2025. PLEASE NOTE the same COURTROOM JOURNALIST CONTEST RULES apply to the Guam contest, with some exceptions. Please refer to the Guam Rules of the Competition ARTICLE 13 for more information.
