Welcome to Our Survey

Dear Hobart Residents
You are invited to participate in this Citizen Science study of living with wildlife in backyards in Hobart. We are interested in how people live alongside wildlife in urban Hobart.

Backyards can provide valuable habitat for wildlife and wildlife can connect people with nature. But wildlife eat gardens and pets eat wildlife. Your knowledge of how people live with wildlife and how willing they are to accommodate wildlife in their backyard is invaluable for conservation and to help create a greener, more livable city.

We want to know the features of backyards that support wildlife, the impacts that wildlife have on gardens and pets, the risks that pets pose to wildlife, and most importantly how residents accommodate wildlife in their backyard.

We have selected medium-sized mammals and the Tasmanian native hen in this study because you have probably seen and experienced these animals in or close to your backyard. We are interested in your response whether you have seen wildlife in your backyard or not. We are as interested in knowing why backyards don’t have wildlife as well as knowledge about backyards that do have wildlife. (Until August 30, 2018)
