Sarnia Library Community Needs Survey |
Introduction
Lambton County Library wants to hear from you!
Lambton County Library is looking for public feedback regarding library services in the Sarnia area in order to better respond to the changing needs of the community.
In order to plan for relevant library services that engage the community and connect people to the information, materials and culture required for a diverse and vibrant community, we need to hear from residents.
We invite you to please fill out the following survey, consisting of 26 simple questions that will inform our decision-making moving forward. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete, and is open until January 23, 2017.
Additional Background
Lambton County Library offers 26 branch locations throughout Lambton County, with 3 of those branches within Sarnia - Mallroad, Bright's Grove and the downtown Sarnia branch. Each location offers the traditional library services that the community has come to expect, including extensive book, movie, magazine, newspaper and music collections available for borrowing, and a range of library programming. New technology-based services, such as downloadable content (eBooks, eAudio, eMagazines and eNewspapers), free WiFi and computer use, and digital reference services are also standard across all branches.
Our vision for the Lambton County Library is to be exemplary in connecting people, materials, and culture in order to build and sustain a diverse and vibrant community. Our mission is to serve and benefit the community by:
· Engaging the community
· Connecting people to information and inspiring creative works
· Partnering and collaborating
· Conducting our business transparently and with business responsibility
Current library design guidelines suggest that a library should have one square foot of space for each person in the community. Lambton County Library currently serves a Sarnia population of approximately 70,000 residents, with the total square footage of our three Sarnia locations at approximately 42,000 square feet. Based on this standard, we are challenged to re-imagine the physical space of our library branches, and consider alternatives to our existing branch designs through public consultation. This means engaging the community as part of our planning, so that these spaces can be used in a way that is right for users.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance as we work to anticipate and respond to the needs of our community!
