After All These Years, Should We Evolve the Agile Principles?
Community View of Agile Principles
Thanks to all of you who participated in the first "After All These Years, What Does it Mean to be Agile" survey. More than 300 people from all over the world answered that survey. A summary of the results can be found here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/sr.aspx?sm=_2f_2bPoGYfxffyM3td_2fqH9_2fulwV7TXy6BdkDqLswRbUbV0_3d
This follow on survey provides the results of the "Principles" question in addition to asking you to provide more feedback. You can click through this survey only looking at the results or you can provide more feedback, which would be most appreciated.
For each of the original Agile Principles, I provide you a weighted average of the level of support for the principle. A "5" means that a respondent feels the principle is essential and a "1" means a respondent did not feel the principle was important. Therefore, the higher the score for the principle, the more support respondents gave for that principle.
I also provide a suggested revision of the principle based upon suggestions made in the first survey as well as some statistical analysis. The purpose of this survey is to ask for your feedback on the revised principles. Your participation would be most appreciated. I fully acknowledge that the Agile Principles belong to the signatories of the original Agile Manifesto but your commentary on the suggested changes will reveal important trends among and behaviors of agile teams.
This survey on agile principles will run until Friday, 9 July 2010. Please feel free to forward these results/this survey to anyone you wish.
At the end of the survey, you can voluntarily provide your email address if you did not participate or provide your email address in the original survey, and I will send you a link to a summary of the survey results when the survey is completed. My goal is to publish the results in a prominent publication such as IEEE Software.
Thanks for your participation! Have a great day!
