Environmental Justice at WSDOT

As required by the HEAL Act and RCW 70A.02., The Washington State Department of Transportation will begin conducting environmental justice assessments on significant agency actions beginning July 1, 2023. We are seeking comment by June 23 about our list of significant agency actions, other types of actions that could benefit from an EJ assessment, and how to keep communities informed.

Question Title

* 1. Do you have any comments about the required types of significant agency actions? The list is:

A.) The development of certain agency rules (significant legislative rules as defined in RCW 34.05.328).

B.) The development and adoption of any new grant or loan program.

C.) A transportation project, grant, or loan by WSDOT of at least $15,000,000.

D.) The submission of agency request legislation to the office of the governor or the office of financial management for approval.
