The City is preparing grant applications for the Measure A Cycle 5 Safe Routes to School Program. Three proposed projects have been selected based on criteria for the program. The criteria consists of location of project relative to schools (must be within 0.5 mile of a school), number of bicycle and pedestrian related collisions within the project area, potential for increased safety and demand for walking and biking to, from and near schools, elimination of gaps or overcoming obstacles in a bicycle or pedestrian facility, and local support. Public Outreach is a significant part of the application process. The survey allows for residents, parents, students, and staff to have their input and ideas documented for the application.
