CLIMATE CHANGE - WHAT IT MAY MEAN FOR YOU AND YOUR COMMUNITY
A CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
The Toms River/Ocean County region has been invited to be one of 20 communities in the United States and Norway to participate in a unique opportunity developed by the Institute on Science for Global Policy (ISGP) called the ISGP Climate Change Arctic Program (ICCAP). ICCAP promotes community discussions regarding the mitigation of and adapting to the effects of climate change in their locales.
By completing this questionnaire you may be considered to participate in an ICCAP community-wide conference in 2015.
ICCAP encourages participation by individuals with differing views that reflect the diverse opinions and cultural perspectives concerning the potential significance of climate change, especially with respect to the personal lifestyles choices and the decisions made in their respective community.
Your participation in all aspects of this exceptional opportunity can provide numerous opportunities to learn about the credible options concerning climate change, to share your views with your fellow citizens, and to collectively influence community-wide decisions.
Toms River-area citizens are asked to complete the attached questionnaire concerning your demographic information and your current views of climate change.
Citizens from the Toms River region will be invited to participate in a community-wide meeting to be organized by a Working Group comprised of their fellow citizens. Similar Working Groups are organizing the analogous ICCAP events in other communities throughout the U.S. and Norway. These meetings provide citizens with opportunities to question and debate internationally recognized scientific and policy experts concerning their views on practical actions that can be taken to help mitigate and adapt to anticipated impacts of climate change on the Toms River area. While these community-wide meetings seek to accommodate all interested citizens, those who complete the questionnaire will be given priority.
The ICCAP seeks to launch meaningful national debates based on credible scientific understanding on how societies can mitigate and/or adapt to foreseeable consequences of climate change. It is important to reiterate that the ICCAP is seeking to engage individuals with diverse views and experiences concerning climate change, and its potential impact on people’s daily lives.
