Definition: Restorative justice offers a framework for responding to harm that emphasizes relationships and repair over retribution and shame.  

It is an approach, used around the world, that utilizes processes with indigenous roots to resolve crimes and conflict.  Restorative justice processes empower those directly involved in an offense to collaboratively identify harm that has resulted from that offense and address the needs to repair that harm.
