Call for ICS Writing Group Members
ICS is seeking four members to join a joint IUGA/IDSA/ICS Writing Group to develop an opinion paper on non-antibiotic strategies for the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs).
About the Project
Recurrent UTIs are a significant clinical challenge, contributing to morbidity, antibiotic use and healthcare costs. This multidisciplinary project will review current evidence on non-antibiotic prevention strategies, including vaginal estrogen, probiotics, cranberry products, methenamine, immunoprophylaxis and emerging therapies.
The Writing Group will develop practical, evidence-based clinical guidance, identify gaps in current research and establish priorities for future studies.
Time Commitment
The anticipated project duration is 12–24 months. Members should expect to contribute approximately 3–5 hours per month, increasing to 8–10 hours during intensive periods of evidence review, drafting and revision.
Member Expectations
Members will contribute to literature reviews, evidence appraisal and report development; attend virtual meetings as required; complete assigned tasks within agreed deadlines; review drafts; and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Applicants with experience in guideline development, literature reviews, evidence appraisal or methodological support are particularly encouraged to apply.
Application deadline: 10 November 2026, at 11:59 PM UTC.
