This training is recommended for people with a minimum of three years professional industry experience and experience of supervising / managing others or existing experience as a Training Manager

Amy Shaw, BECTU Vision Co-Manager

Amy’s career journey started with working in production roles where she gained extensive experience across scripted and unscripted productions in Scotland for more than a decade. After the birth of her children, Amy transitioned her career to suit her newfound responsibilities and became a Freelance Training Manager, contributing to programs like Jumpcut, City Futures and two seasons of the Outlander Training Programme before joining BECTU Vision as a Co-Manager alongside Linda Fraser.

Rhizanne Cyrus, HR Consultant

Rhizanne is an experienced HR professional with experience delivering HR across multiple sectors including Media, Travel & Tourism, Ecommerce, Aviation, Retail and Healthcare. With 10 years' experience in HR, in a variety of roles, Rhizanne has experience of HR from both sides and is currently a HR consultant providing HR services to companies within the TV, Film & creative industry.

Michelle White, 6ft from the Spotlight Co-Director, Psychologist & Coach

Michelle holds an MSc in Coaching Psychology and works with individuals and organisations to develop the resilient and healthy approaches which underpin creative, psychologically safe and sustainable working environments. She has over 18 years’ experience of leading teams within the film events and exhibition sector for organisations, such as the BFI, the London Film Festival and DDA Live.

Eli began her career on the Channel 4 Production Training Scheme before spending over a decade producing factual content, from the revival of Ready Steady, Cook, to current affairs and investigative content including Question Time, and Watchdog. In 2024, Eli was appointed Project Lead of the TV Access Project, an alliance of the ten largest broadcasters and streamers in the UK, leading the collaboration towards the goal of full inclusion by 2030.

Klarissa Webster, Deaf Awareness, Solar Bear

Klarissa graduated from Dundee Jordanstone College of Art and from then worked as a Visual Artist and a Youth Worker. She has worked in several different community centres and delivered many creative workshops. After participating in Solar Reels last year, Klarissa has transitioned her career towards the screen industry and got involved in further training and programmes in the industry. Klarissa has written and directed 2 short films since then.

Eligibility:

This session is specifically for established film and television practitioners based in Scotland. Please only apply if you meet this criteria. BECTU opportunities for those in other areas of the UK can be found here:
England, Wales.

• Applicants should be based and working freelance in film and television in Scotland.

• Students are not eligible for this training.

Selection:

• As this is a workshop style course, there are a limited number of spaces available to allow participants the opportunity to interact and ask questions.

• Places will be given to those who demonstrate the greatest professional need for this training.

• Places are provided free of charge but are worth a considerable amount. Please only apply if you can commit to attending the session.

Access:

• The training room is has step-free access, accessible parking and accessible toilets.
• Access requirements can be arranged for those selected including BSL translation, captions and large print.
• We can help with travel costs for those based outwith Glasgow.
