Events at Claremont Showgrounds

Town of Claremont is seeking community feedback on events at the Claremont Showgrounds.
The Town and Council has received complaints and recently a petition from residents regarding the impact of events held at the Showgrounds, particularly around the issues of traffic, noise and anti-social behaviour.
Royal Agriculture Society WA (RASWA) manage the Showgrounds and decides what events are held there. As these events impact the local community, the Town seeks to work collaboratively with RASWA to minimise any impact on our residents. The Town does not control or manage these events.
The information gathered from this survey will be collated and provide to RASWA. Events held at the Showgrounds have in the past caused undesirable impacts on the local community. These have included the following:

  • Noise – please note that the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997 operate as a prescribed standard under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and set limits on noise emissions.
  • Traffic congestion and hazards for residents – the Town’s officers have worked with the RASWA and the
event promoters for several years to attempt to reduce the impact such events have on the residents
    by providing traffic management.
  • Anti-social behaviour – can cause disruption to residents and result in destruction of property, increased cleaning costs and distress due to exposure to anti-social behaviour.
Please read all of the below information prior to completing the survey.

This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Responses close 5pm, Friday 29th January 2021.
