1. Staffed or Operated Beds
We need to know the number of beds that are currently staffed by nursing and are ready to receive patients. This is different from either licensed beds or occupied beds,
2. Sponsored Staff
A new line in the staffing section asks for “sponsored staff.” Many of you have people working for you who are paid by some entity other than your hospital. Examples could be faculty members paid by a school or it could be persons paid from a research grant.
3. Case Mix Index
Some have not been able to report case mix index. We urge you to complete this item. Our new report shows staffing based on patient acuity as measured by CMI. We hope you’ll find it very valuable.
4. Total Hospital and Pharmacy Expense
Finally, we ask for total hospital operating expense and total pharmacy operating expense. These are used in the calculation of pharmacy’s representation of total expense.
