Much of the work done by the New Mexico Medical Society is through its committees that are appointed each year by the incoming president. We’d welcome your interest and participation!

CHILDREN’S MEDICAL SERVICES

Serves as advisory committee to the New Mexico Department of Health on Children’s Medical Services.

CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS

Studies and proposes amendments to the Society’s constitution and bylaws.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION

Accredits providers of medical education activities and conducts site surveys of provider programs.

LIAISON TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

Meets with DOH and acts in an advisory capacity on issues concerning public health.

LIAISON TO THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT

Meets with HSD and acts in advisory capacity on issues concerning Medicaid and Centennial/Turquoise Care programs.

LIAISON TO NM SCHOOLS OF MEDICINE

Meets with UNM & BCOM staff and physicians to discuss matters regarding programs in the best interest of the medical community.

MEDICAL-LEGAL PANEL

Participate in medical-legal review hearings of liability filings, Monday through Thursday evenings and New Mexico specific CME is earned by physicians.

LIAISON TO MANAGED CARE

Meets with representatives of the MCOs and acts in an advisory capacity on issues impacting physician practices and patient care.

CONVENTION PLANNING

Meets with NMMS staff to plan partnerships and speakers for NMMS annual conference.

Ad HOC COMMITTEE ON LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS

Researches and discusses legislative issues and initiatives.

Ad HOC COMMITTEE ON MEMBERSHIP

Members work to increase membership and to improve services.
