Introduction and Consent

This research is being conducted by Rebecca Rubin Damari at the University of Maryland, College Park. We are inviting you to participate in this research project because you use the TELL (Teacher Effectiveness for Language Learning) framework or tools in your teacher training. The purpose of this research project is to understand how the TELL framework is used in training language teachers.

If you consent, you will be directed to complete an online survey, requiring about 10–15 minutes of your time. There are some questions that you will be required to answer if you wish to participate. As in any research, there is a risk of breach of confidentiality. Efforts to mitigate that risk are described below. There are no direct benefits from participating in this research. We hope that, in the future, the results of this survey will help us better support other language teacher educators in using the TELL framework with their students.

Any potential loss of confidentiality will be minimized by storing all research documents electronically on a password-protected server, accessible only to the investigator. If we write a report or article about this research project, your identity will be protected to the maximum extent possible. Your information may be shared with representatives of the University of Maryland, College Park or governmental authorities if you or someone else is in danger or if we are required to do so by law.

After you complete the survey, you will be eligible to enter a raffle for free registration to one of our online teacher institutes, with a dollar value of $149. The chance of winning will be determined by the number of people who complete the survey.

Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary. You may choose not to take part at all. If you decide to start the survey, you may stop at any time. If you decide not to participate in this study or if you stop participating at any time, you will not be penalized or lose any benefits to which you otherwise qualify.
