Thank you for your interest in serving on the OPTA Wellness Committee. Volunteers can participate in – or help lead – several subcommittees.

Wellness Coaching + Seasons of Professional Life Subcommittee – Develop scalable coaching and mentorship models to support physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants across the seasons of their careers and personal lives in achieving sustainable well-being, autonomy, and professional fulfillment

Students + Educational Partnerships Subcommittee – Address wellness challenges specific to students in PT and PTA programs and strengthen partnerships with educational institutions to foster a culture of well-being throughout the student seasons and transition into practice.

Research + Data Subcommittee – Collect, analyze, and translate data on wellness in the PT profession to guide programming, advocacy, and resource development

Education + Resources + Programming Subcommittee – Integrate wellness into OPTA education, events, and member-facing resources to elevate awareness, normalize honest conversations about burnout and moral injury, and provide practical tools across all seasons of professional life.

Wellness Advocacy + Culture Subcommittee – Identify and address organizational, systemic, and cultural contributors to burnout and moral injury. Empower self-advocacy, positioning OPTA as a leader in advancing workplace well-being in alignment with state, national, and regulatory initiatives.

What to Expect
  • The full Wellness Committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. via Zoom for strategic discussion and shared planning.
  • Subcommittee work will happen flexibly, allowing members to contribute on their own time and cadence
  • Subcommittee leads will provide updates during full committee meetings to keep work aligned and moving forward
  • This structure ensures meetings are energizing and strategic – while real progress continues between them.
