Australia's High Country ... It's time to go fishing!

Welcome to the Registration Survey for the Snowy Trout Challenge

Congratulations on your big Snowy Trout Challenge catch!

In addition to the huge, tagged Rainbow Trout you have so skilfully caught in one of the Snowy Mountains' pristine waterways, you are able to register your fish to go into the Catch Draw for the Cash Prizes.

Catch Draw - $2000 Cash Prize Draws start monthly from the end January 2022.

Fish caught in October, November and December go into the January draw.*
The January draw is sponsored by Kristy McBain MP.
*(If more sponsorship is sourced, there will be an end of December draw.)

Snowy Hydro will be providing four monthly $2000 cash prizes plus merchandise packs per ‘Catch Draw’ in February, March, April and May.

Please fill in all details on the survey for your fish and other information. Once we have prize winners they will be posted to our Facebook page.

The Snowy Trout Challenge is an annual event initiated by local Chambers of Commerce from Lake Eucumbene, Jindabyne, Cooma and Bombala, and is supported by Snowy Monaro Regional Council.

All of the organisers are volunteers and are eager to see our visitors to the Snowy Mountains enjoy their Summer stay by having a go at catching some of the biggest Rainbow Trout we've released, primarily into Lake Eucumbene and Lake Jindabyne. Other lakes include Lake Crackenback Resort, Lake Williams at Nimmitabel, Black Lake at Bombala and Murrumbidgee Pumping Station, Cooma.

We would like to thank Mitch Elkins and staff at Gaden Trout Hatchery, Jindabyne (Department of Primary Industries) for tagging and releasing 500 large Rainbow Trout into the local waterways for the 2021/22 Snowy Trout Challenge.

Please note that only trout caught with White Tags (2021-22) are eligible to enter for catch prizes. If you have caught other fish, including last year’s pink tagged fish, we congratulate you on your catch.

You can still go into the Snowy Trout Challenge Registration Draw to win a $500 cash prize at the conclusion of the 2021-22 Snowy Trout Challenge drawn in June 2022.

Happy Fishing!
