Study Title:
Institutional Perspectives on Fertility Education: A Survey of Australian and New Zealand Medical Schools

Principal Investigator: Rebecca Moore, Brisbane, QLD
Contact: bec@fertiq.com.au
HREC Approval: Approved by the Ramsay Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC 2025/ETH/0049)

What is the project about?
This project is about understanding what fertility-related teaching medical students and junior doctors receive during their training, and whether any fertility-related wellbeing or health-promotion activities are offered. We also want to learn how confident trainees feel talking to patients about fertility, and making decisions about their own reproductive health.

You have been invited because you are a medical student (Years 3–5) or an early-career doctor (PGY1–PGY3) in Australia or New Zealand.

This information sheet explains what the project involves so you can decide if you want to take part. If you have questions, you can contact the researcher at the end of this document.

This project is being carried out by Ms Rebecca Moore, a fertility nurse.

What will I be expected to do?
If you choose to take part, you will complete an anonymous online survey that takes about 10–12 minutes.

You can skip any question you don’t want to answer.
There is no follow-up, no monitoring, and no restrictions on what you can do.

There are no costs, and you will not be paid.
No medical records or other personal information will be accessed.

Do I have to take part?
No. Participation is your choice.

You can stop the survey at any time before submitting it.
Your decision will not affect your relationship with any hospital, training organisation, or the researcher.

Because the survey is anonymous, once you submit it, your answers cannot be withdrawn.

What are the possible benefits?
There may be no direct benefit to you.
Your feedback will help identify gaps in fertility education and wellbeing support for medical trainees, and may guide future improvements to medical training programs.

What are the possible risks or disadvantages?
Some questions ask about your fertility knowledge and personal decision-making. This may cause minor discomfort for some people.

There are no physical risks.

How will privacy and confidentiality be protected?
The survey is completely anonymous.

No name, email, IP address, or any identifying details are collected.

SurveyMonkey tracking is disabled.

Your answers cannot be linked back to you.

All data will be stored in a secure, password-protected Google Drive account controlled by the Principal Investigator. Only the researcher will have access.

Data will be kept for five years and then permanently deleted.

Who will see the results of the research?
The results may be published in journals, reports, or conference presentations.
Only combined, de-identified results will be shared. You will not be identifiable in any publication.

Financial disclosure / conflict of interest
This study has no funding.
The researcher will not receive payment.
