The Mentorship Lecture and Award in Honor of Frances M. Maitland recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a dedication to the professional development of others through mentorship, collaboration, and support. This award includes a plaque, monetary gift, and the opportunity to deliver a 10-15 minute presentation during the awards ceremony at the Alliance Annual Conference, Feb. 18-21, 2027, in Orlando, FL.
All nominations must be submitted electronically using this online submission site no later than 11:59 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 20th, 2026.
Nomination Criteria:
Current members of the Alliance Board are not eligible to nominate individuals for this award. Self-nominations are not accepted.
-Must be an active (including emeritus) Alliance member.
-Must not currently sit on the Alliance Board of Directors.
-Must not be a past recipient of the award.
-Willing to provide a 10-15 minute presentation during the awards ceremony at the Alliance Annual Conference focused on mentoring that is inspirational/motivational in tone.
To complete your application, the following information is needed and should be submitted by the Nominator:
·Statement by nominator of relationship (maximum of 2 single-spaced pages at 1” margins, 11 point font (Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman, Calibri). If you are/ever were a direct supervisee of the nominee, the mentorship had to also have taken place outside of that time period.
·Nominee profile: name, credentials, current title, organization(s) represented, any notable past titles/organizations, knowledge of other mentees, involvement in mentorship (formation or informal roles that the nominator is aware of).
·Optional: Statements of support from other mentees (max of 5)
If selected, the Awards Committee Chair will notify the nominee and ask for commitment to attend the 2027 Alliance Annual Conference to deliver a 10-15 minute presentation focused on mentorship that is inspirational/motivational in tone. If this is not possible, another nominee may be considered.
