Background information

About the project
Northern Queensland PHN has commissioned Beacon Strategies to develop a Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan (SPCAP) for the Torres and Cape region.

The Torres and Cape SPCAP will be developed in line with Black Dog Institute’s LifeSpan Framework. Northern Queenland PHN and Torres and Cape HHS are committed to using the LifeSpan framework to guide the delivery of suicide prevention activties across the Torres and Cape region.


The Torres and Cape SPCAP project is being delivered in direct partnership with a project steering group, with membership comprising of Northern Queensland PHN, Torres and Cape HHS and a number of key agencies who oversee the planning and delivery of all project activities.

About the survey
The purpose of the survey is to get an initial sense from Torres and Cape stakeholders about the needs, issues, strengths and opportunities in regards to suicide prevention across the region and gauge early interest in establishing a local suicide prevention implementation team.
