Registration & Advance Questions Survey for the ABC Tribal Nation Listening Session

The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is hosting a Tribal Nation Listening Session on Friday, March 27, 1pm-3pm, on alcohol licensing and regulation to hear Tribal perspectives and support government-to-government collaboration. Please confirm attendance and submit questions in advance through this short survey to help inform the discussion.

Location: Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) Headquarters Hearing Room, 2920 Kilgore Road, Rancho Cordova (free on-site parking is available for participants; vehicles must park in DCC-labeled stalls; any vehicles parked elsewhere may be subject to towing; participants must sign in at the security desk on arrival).

Background
State-level alcohol licensing and enforcement, under the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), can intersect with Tribal jurisdiction and sovereignty in complex ways. Recent feedback from Tribal leaders highlights concerns about:
  • State licensing forms that are not equipped to address Tribal-specific issues or governance structures.
  • Alcohol licensing processes for Tribal enterprises.
  • Opportunities for improved communication and partnership.
Objectives
  1. Strengthen government-to-government relationships between the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and Tribal Nations.
  2. Listen to Tribal leaders’ concerns regarding alcohol licensing, regulations, and operations.
  3. Identify areas for improved collaboration between the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and Tribal governments.
