Redondo Beach Community Survey for the Residential Design Guidelines Update

In 2019, the City of Redondo Beach adopted a strategic plan and identified residential neighborhood character as a high priority.  Since 2003, the Planning Division has reviewed and approved plans for new homes and alterations based on guidelines adopted that year, with differing interpretations over time. The City Council has directed staff to take a more proactive approach to enforcing the intent of the guidelines and to undertake a community process to update and improve on these guidelines, creating standards that are more clear and objective.

Based on an SB2 grant received from the State Department of Housing and Community Development, the City is working with a Consultant on the Redondo Beach Residential Design Standards.  The Consultant needs input from the community so the updated standards reflect what is most desireable for the city’s future.

A virtual community workshop was held on January 10, 2022 which included a presentation on what residential design guidelines consist of and the process for updating the document.  The meeting video, and other helpful information, can be found on the project webpage at www.redondo.org/RDG
