Introduction

There’s no place like Louisiana. Our meals are never for one.  Our music is legendary – and it’s always turned up! We’ve got something for every sportsman.  Our heritage is rich. And, boy do we know how to have a good time!

We live, learn, work, and play together.  And together, we can make Louisiana as healthy as we are happy.

Louisiana leads the nation in statistics for obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

But, we believe that improving our state’s health statistics doesn’t mean giving up the traditions that we love. We believe that if we begin making healthy policy, system, and environmental changes now, our children will be able to enjoy our favorite things even longer.

We all have a role in improving the health of our children. Our state is full of teachers, nurses, principals, district administrators, community members, parents, and students that can make a difference.

Well-Ahead Louisiana works to empower educational leaders with the skills and knowledge to support Louisiana Healthy Schools. This is accomplished by providing professional development and training through the Healthy Schools Training Krewe.

We would like to gather your input on professional development and training needs and logistics for the 2020 - 2021 school year, as it relates to healthy eating, physical activity, and managing students’ chronic health conditions.
