TAPG has been engaged in the process to produce a statement of best practice for adventure therapy (AT) since 2001, with writing of preferred programming standards for the administration of adventure and wilderness therapy programs beginning in 2007. Click here to view the tangible outcome of this project in the working document online.
As a part of this effort, we endeavor to keep it updated as the field grows in knowledge and understanding. Your ideas and experiences are integral contributions for this project. If you need a broader perspective of the questions being asked, this survey focuses on Foundational Concepts of the Foundations section and Client Welfare, Informed Consent of the Ethics section. Please respond to the following questions where WE NEED MORE INPUT.
As you respond, keep in mind that best practices are the elements and activities of intervention design, planning, and implementation that are recommended based on the best knowledge available. Historic precedent, practitioner experience and judgment, theoretical developments, and empirical and basic research results inform them. It is designed to inform practitioners, administrators, consumers, and policy makers on theory, process, and outcomes guiding AT.
We are seeking thoughtful, intentional input for the content of the TAPG Best Practices. This survey should take you 20 minutes. Although we will continue to seek input electronically, if you have are interested in being a larger part of this project or in having a direct conversation, please contact, Maurie Lung, Best Practices Steering Committee Chair, at 727-481-4577 or email dmlung@lifeadventurescc.org.
