Come join us for an exciting course where you will learn how to “untie the spirits” of those living with dementia. You will be refreshed in the principles of the Eden Alternative® which provide a solid framework for reaching out to those whose “minds have changed.” In this packed course you will learn concepts from the best leaders in the field to help you adopt new and successful approaches. The course will focus on non-drug related interventions to improve quality of life for those who live with dementia and those who care for them. You will finish this course with a renewed energy for caring for those with dementia and an appreciation for the importance of the work you do every day.
Presenters
Cheryl George and Suellen Beatty share the responsibility of growing the people and organizations in Western Canada that have committed themselves to the Eden Alternative®. As regional coordinators since 1999 they mentor, honour and encourage
those who are reaching for a higher ground in communities for elder care. They conduct Certified Eden Associate training, offer workshops and presentations on the philosophy of the Eden Alternative®, and oversee the Eden Alternative® growth. Cheryl and Suellen worked together at Sherbrooke Community Centre for over 25 years. They share a passion for promoting quality of life in long term care. At Sherbrooke, Suellen served as CEO, with a Masters of Science in Nursing and Cheryl was the Education Leader, with a Masters of Science in Community Health Education.
Who Should Attend?
All those interested in culture change in long term care with a focus on caring for those with dementia, Senior Leaders, Managers and hands on staff will all be inspired and renewed by this course.
What is included?
2 days of engaging training running from 9am-5pm each day, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks. A workbook will be provided to participants.

When is the registration deadline?

The deadline to register is Sept 2nd, 2025.

What is our refund policy?

Upon receipt of your application & payment, you will receive detailed information. Full payment is due upon registration and is non-refundable the 3 weeks prior to conference. In the event that an applicant is unable to attend the training after payment has been made and cancels with less than 3 weeks notice prior to the course start date, the following can be arranged:

a) attendance at a future training session can be scheduled, or
b) another person from the organization may be sent as an alternate.
